Satellite campii

This article came up in my fishing net of RSS feeds, and I thought it was interesting to see how prevalent this business of satellite campuses is. When UW announced something resembling a plan for a campus in the UAE, I remember thinking it was a pretty strange thing to do. So was that random office in Manhattan, for that matter. But it appears that financial considerations may be (at least in part) to blame, since oil-rich countries in the middle east are practically bleeding money.
