Book #13 of 2019 is Free Fall in Crimson, another of the Travis McGee books by John D. MacDonald. This guy doesn't hold back any punches, that's for sure. I was pretty surprised/shocked by the way the book turned out towards the end, but won't go into details to avoid spoilers.
